Ohiya and the adjacent Ambewela plateau sit at nearly 1,800m elevation below Horton Plains, offering high-altitude conditions with very low light pollution. The cold, transparent mountain air provides excellent atmospheric seeing conditions during the dry season. This area has become a popular staging ground for hill-country astrophotography.
